Privacy Notice
California Dispatcher Practice is designed so you can practice without creating an account. This notice explains what the application stores on your device and what may be processed by ordinary website infrastructure.
1. Practice data stored on your device
The self-paced Quick Practice feature uses your browser’s local storage to remember its shuffled question order, current position, current selection, checked-answer status, score, and category totals so you can leave and continue later on the same browser. When you finish Quick Practice or a full test, the application also attempts to save a compact attempt summary. That summary may include the practice mode or test number and title, completion date, raw score, number correct, total questions, elapsed time when applicable, and section or category percentages. The application limits history to recent attempts. Your name and contact information are not requested or included in these local records. Saved difficult questions, focused-drill progress, and the hiring-process checklist may also use local storage. Audio call-taking notes, dispatch simulator notes and generated scenario details, interview-practice answer outlines, and retest-calculator dates are processed in your browser and are not sent to the public-results database. Limited scores and completion events from those tools may be sent as described below. A random browser identifier and compact in-progress records may also be stored locally so the site can distinguish anonymous participating browsers and display paused activity in your recent-activity list. Interview-practice outlines and ratings are kept only for the current page session and are not saved to local storage. The dispatch simulator may save a small local summary containing the date, number of calls, and average score for recent fictional shifts. Browser speech synthesis reads fictional call text using voices available on the visitor's device. A small review courtesy record may store distinct practice-day dates, whether a review request was shown or dismissed, and the latest eligible completion reference. It is used only to avoid repeatedly asking for a review.
The timed dispatcher typing test keeps typed text in the current page session. A completed attempt saves a compact local history entry and sends only an anonymous accuracy percentage and selected duration to public statistics. Typed passages, keystrokes, and WPM results are not uploaded. Google Analytics receives a fixed tool-start or tool-completion event, without the passage or score.
2. Printable workbook and requested emails
If you request the printable workbook, we collect the first name and email address you submit, together with your consent to receive the workbook and occasional dispatcher-practice tips. That information is transmitted securely to Resend, our email-delivery provider, so we can maintain the subscriber list and send the messages you requested. The current welcome series includes the immediate workbook email followed by encouragement and practice guidance on approximately Days 2, 5, and 30 after signup. Names and email addresses submitted through the workbook form are not placed in public statistics, reviews, practice history, or the site's training database. The downloadable workbook is hosted on this website and the delivery email contains a link to it. You may unsubscribe from future study emails at any time using the link provided in those messages or by emailing californiadispatcherpractice@gmail.com.
To reduce automated abuse, the site uses a hidden bot-trap field, email-delivery idempotency controls, and a short-term rate limit. The rate limiter converts the requesting network address into a salted one-way value for the current hourly window; it does not store the raw address with the workbook request. Old rate-limit entries are periodically deleted. Resend may process message delivery, bounce, complaint, suppression, and link-click information under its own privacy terms. We keep subscriber information until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or it is removed as part of ordinary list maintenance and legal obligations.
3. Anonymous public training statistics
Completed activities and practice sessions that are started, paused, completed, or replaced may send a limited anonymous summary to the Service's database so the site can display community-wide statistics. Depending on the tool, this can include a random event or session identifier, tool name, status, current and total progress, score percentage, item count, selected practice length, and server-recorded completion time. A full-test summary may also include test number and title, number correct, total questions, and elapsed time. Quick Practice reports session accuracy, questions answered, and overall saved-round progress; the question text and chosen answer are not sent. A Quick Practice visit ends when you pause, leave, or stop answering for 30 minutes, while your 200-question progress remains saved. Session checkpoints allow the server to count an inactive visit even if the final browser request is interrupted. Call-taking reports only the calculated accuracy and selected call length. Dispatch simulation reports only the session average and number of completed calls. Focused and saved-question drills report an accuracy percentage and question count. Interview practice reports the number of questions and combined self-rating. The retest calculator reports only that a date was calculated—not the date entered or result. No public summary includes your name, email address, phone number, account identifier, notes, typed call details, interview responses, selected units, individual answers, audio transcripts, test dates, or locally stored history. The random browser identifier is one-way hashed before database storage; the raw identifier remains in your browser. The hash is used only to produce an approximate participating-browser count and is not based on your IP address.
4. Optional public reviews
After completing a full test, all 200 Quick Practice questions, a call-taking accuracy exercise, or a dispatch simulator session, you may voluntarily submit a public review. A review submission includes a 1–5 rating, review text, the first name or username you provide—or “Anonymous” if you select that option—the completed practice mode, a random submission identifier, a completion reference, and a server-recorded date. The public Reviews page and homepage may display the chosen name, rating, text, practice mode, and date. The random identifiers and completion reference are used to validate and limit submissions and are not shown publicly. Reviews may be rejected or removed for including contact details, links, HTML, confidential or official exam content, abuse, or other prohibited material. Do not include your last name, contact information, employer information, or any sensitive information in a review.
5. Public display and retention of anonymous results
The statistics page may publicly display aggregate activity counts, averages, high scores, completion times, results by test or tool, active-session counts from the past 14 days, an approximate number of participating browsers, and the ten most recent anonymous completion summaries. These summaries are not official scores and are not tied to a public profile. Anonymous result records may be retained for the life of the statistics feature so totals and trends remain accurate. Clearing your local browser history does not delete an anonymous result already added to the public statistics database because the site has no account-based way to connect that record back to you. The participating-browser number is not a count of verified people: the same person may be counted again after clearing site data or using another browser or device, and multiple people using one browser may count once.
Article views and helpfulness feedback
Article pages use a separate random browser identifier in local storage to count a participating browser once per article and save one changeable Yes/No helpfulness vote. The server stores an article-specific hash of that identifier, the article slug, the first-view time, and the vote. These records are retained for the life of the feature; only aggregate counts are displayed publicly. They do not contain your name, answers, or email address. Counts are approximate browser counts, not verified people. Clearing site data or using a different browser can count you again. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable article identification and feedback submission. Reading remains available without feedback or storage. Clearing browser data removes your local identifier and vote reminders but does not remove previously submitted anonymous records.
6. How to delete local attempt history
Use “Clear local history” on the practice-test home screen to remove local completed activity and saved progress. You may also clear site data through your browser settings. Clearing browser data, using private-browsing mode, changing browsers or devices, or reinstalling a browser may erase the history. We do not keep a server copy of your personal attempt history and generally cannot restore locally deleted history.
7. Website analytics and infrastructure information
Public printable resources require no email address. Download requests may appear in ordinary hosting logs and, if file-download measurement is enabled in Google Analytics, may be measured with the resource link and page information. The website does not collect notes you write on a printed worksheet or download; do not send completed forms containing private information to the site.
Like most websites, hosting, security, content-delivery, browser, and network providers may automatically process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include an IP address, request date and time, requested page, referrer, device/browser type, approximate region derived from an IP address, and security or diagnostic events. We also use Google Analytics to understand site traffic and how visitors use pages and features. Google Analytics may process information such as page views, session activity, referring pages, approximate location, device and browser information, and online identifiers. We do not intentionally send your practice answers, typing passages, keystrokes, notes, audio transcripts, or locally saved attempt history to Google Analytics. These providers may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not use the practice application to sell your test history or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
For practice navigation, Google Analytics may receive fixed events named practice_start, practice_complete, explanation_view and next_practice_click. Their additional labels identify only a tool, a fixed session format and, for next-step links, a public destination. They do not contain your notes, answers, transcripts, typed text, keystrokes, scores or private interview outline. These custom practice and article-link events are suppressed when the browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. This does not disable all provider page-view collection or replace any advertising consent controls. Embedded practice events are accepted only from this site's own practice frame.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
The attempt-history feature uses local storage rather than a login cookie. The hosting platform or browser may still use essential cookies or similar technologies for security, routing, access control, or reliable service. Google Analytics may also set or read cookies and similar identifiers to distinguish visits and measure usage. If Google AdSense advertising is activated, Google and its advertising partners may also use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and similar identifiers to deliver, limit, personalize, measure, and report ads, subject to the choices and legal notices available to each visitor. Browser settings may let you block or delete these technologies, but doing so can affect site functionality, analytics measurements, or ad preferences.
9. Advertising and privacy choices
The Service includes Google AdSense verification and loading code. Ad display depends on Google's account status and advertising configuration; this notice does not indicate that the site has been approved. When advertising is served, ads may be selected using the page's subject, general location, device information, and, where permitted and consented to, information associated with prior visits to this or other websites. We do not intentionally provide practice answers, notes, audio transcripts, review drafts, email addresses, or locally saved attempt history to Google for advertising personalization. Advertisers do not receive permission to access those practice records through this Service.
Available advertising consent and privacy controls depend on the advertising provider's regional configuration. Use any consent message or privacy-choice link displayed with the advertising service. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google's partner-sites notice, manage personalized advertising through My Ad Center, and review additional controls in your browser or device settings. Advertising relationships do not influence practice scoring, answer explanations, editorial standards, or recommendations.
10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The application does not use practice history for targeted advertising or sale. A browser Do Not Track setting does not alter the local-history feature. When applicable law requires recognition of opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control, the Service and its advertising or consent providers will process those signals as required. You may also use any privacy-choice link or message displayed by the site.
11. Sensitive information
Do not enter real caller information, criminal-justice information, medical information, confidential agency information, official exam content, passwords, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information into practice notes. The scenarios are fictional and do not require real personal information.
12. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly design it to collect personal information from children under 13. If the operator learns that such information was collected through a future site feature, it should be deleted as required by applicable law.
13. Security and retention
No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Local storage is accessible to people or software with access to your browser profile or device. Protect your device and browser account. Local attempt summaries remain until you clear them, browser settings remove them, or the application’s history limit replaces older entries. Anonymous public training summaries, hashed browser identifiers, and practice-session status records may be retained as described above. Active sessions stop appearing in the public in-progress total after 14 days without an update. Public reviews may be retained for the life of the review feature unless removed by the operator. Infrastructure providers may retain technical logs for security, legal, and operational periods determined by their policies.
14. Third-party links
Links to California POST and other third-party sites are governed by those sites’ privacy practices. Opening an external link may disclose ordinary request information to that third party. We are not responsible for a third party’s privacy or security practices.
15. Changes and contact
This notice may be updated as the Service or applicable requirements change. The effective date will be revised when an update is posted. Privacy questions may be submitted through any monitored contact method the operator publishes on the Service or through the Contact page. Because the Service does not use accounts or identity fields for public test results, the operator generally cannot identify which anonymous result belongs to a particular visitor. Use the on-device controls described above to manage your personal local history. Workbook subscribers may request access, correction, or deletion of their email-list information by contacting californiadispatcherpractice@gmail.com from the subscribed address.
